Ringing Gabrielle’s Bell
I know that tittle is cheesy but I had to do it.
I had a delightful conversation with Gabrielle Bell the other day on comics, John Keen, Julie Docet, shyness, Wikipedia entries, new comics, and more. Gabrielle is an accomplished and talented cartoonist and writer. Bell’s work in her book Cecil and Jordan in New York inspired the short film, Interior Design directed by Michel Gondry, the first short in the 2008 movie Tokyo! Her fantasy like slice of life comics are refreshing to read. Her subject matter sits especially well with women going through the same trials and tribulations of life , looking for jobs, getting better at your art, having boyfriends, etc , and all with a splash of magic.
*By the way this movie is great.
