Our current viral girl-crush Catey Shaw was sweet enough to put a playlist together for us. And not only that, but LADYGUNN  is proud to present our first ever bird-curated playlist, featuring selections from Catey’s fierce feathered friend, Ketchup! (Who, by the way, has impeccable musical taste for a bird.)

Catey Shaw says, “Ketchup is my lovebird and she’s super cute. I used to make matchbooks with her on them as my ‘business cards.’ She’s got great rhythm and loves music, some songs more than others. Every now and then I’ll be listening to music and a song will come on that she likes and she’ll start freaking out and chirping… and on beat! So I put this playlist together mostly with artists she likes. No, I’m not kidding.”

I Can’t Go for That (No Can Do) – Hall & Oates

Ketchup loves some Hall & Oates (obvi I introduced her). The harmonies are killer, the lyrics are insane, and the sound is just so warm. Ketchup grew up on this stuff.

Maggie May – Rod Stewart
Someone that babysat Ketchup for me once told me that she liked at Rod Stewart. Proud moment for me.
Bird Flu – M.I.A.
Talk about rhythmic. Also, “Bird” is in the title.
You Are The Sunshine Of My Life – Stevie Wonder
Any Stevie Wonder is just classic. He always makes me smile. As soon as I start singing along, Ketchup chimes in. I’m telling you, she has really great taste.

Santeria – Sublime
I used to cover this song in the subway on my ukulele with ketchup on my shoulder. She always liked it when I scatted the guitar solo. To my surprise, she heard the recording and she recognized it!
I’m Like a Bird – Nelly Furtado

Get it?!?!
Honey & I – Haim
I have been listening to Days Are Gone on repeat all year. They’re just so damn good. Honey & I is I think my favorite on the album. And Ketchup is my lil hunny.
M.O.N.E.Y. – The 1975
Their music sounds so upbeat, just like Ketchup, but the songs have deeper and darker messages. Who really knows what goes through Ketchup’s head? She looks so happy and perky, but inside she can’t always be that way. I think The 1975 helps her sort through some feelings that I can’t.
Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There is a Season) – The Byrds
I really love this song but I’m gonna be honest I picked it because it’s by The Byrds and Ketchup is a bird and I’m really into alternative spelling.
The Ketchup Song (Asereje) – Las Ketchup
