WE’VE ALL READ LESLEY ARFIN’S INTENSE JOURNAL ENTRIES IN ‘DEAR DIARY’ AND FOUND SOLACE AND HUMOUR BETWEEN THE PAGES OF HER WILD PAST. LADYGUNN DECIDED TO DIG DEEPER AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS SAVVY AUTHOR LIKES FEELING PRETTY AND PAYING BILLS ON TIME, BUT THINKS FACEBOOK IS “TWO CLICKS AWAY FROM DEPRESSION.”

What are you working on right now?
I write a column for buzznet.com called ‘The Groupie Chronicles,’ an advice column for streetcarnage.com called “Ask Barf,’ an essay series for thoughtcatalog.com called ‘All of My
Boyfriends In Chronological Order,’ and a column about NYC for Australian magazine
Russh. I’m working on other things too but those are the most real ones right now.
What do you love most about what you do?
Sometimes it’s fun. I also love the growth potential.
What do you do?
Write.
What has been the most heartbreaking moment in your career?
I wrote a book proposal that got rejected after ‘Dear Diary’ came out. Also when the magazine I edited folded after I had only worked there for 2 issues. Also I feel like I don’t know what I’m doing 99% of the time and my mentor is an asshole.
How has your life changed since ‘Dear Diary’ came out?
I think it helped my popularity as a writer, more people know my name. And I bought a pony.
How do you get over heartbreak?
Cry, walk around a lot, hang out with friends, leave town, wait.
Have you ever fucked a friend’s boyfriend?
No way.
Please tell us about a recent moment of humiliation?
I went out to dinner with a cool friend of mine and found that my car had been towed during our meal. He had to drive me downtown and gave me money to get my car back. I felt really stupid.
Who gives you the best advice?
Matty McLoughlin, Michael Showalter, Chelsea Peretti, Nichole Beattie.
How do you stay sane?
Therapy, walking, meditate, pray, see funny movies, take vitamins from Whole Foods, sleep well.
What do you love?
Taking a bath, camping, reading, singing, dancing, going on tour with a band, playing whiffle ball, hanging out with my friends, having people laugh at stuff I say, feeling pretty, paying bills on time, paying back debts, when I’m able to afford stuff, working, not working after working, pretending to love sports, coming up with really good tweets, free food, magic, mystery, history, having appropriate boundaries, trusting my instinct, feeling good about a decision, when people I respect like me, being liked in general, sugary cereal, “wacky” socks, a window by the bed, Papermate ‘Flair’ pens, dogs, cats, babies, scary stories, working hard on something and it paying off, these really big headphones I got for Christmas, Jewish people, the idea of gardening one day,
Vermont, NY1 (local news).
Have you ever taken someone’s virginity?
No.
