Finn Roberts is ambitious. He wants to climb mountains—literally. At 22, this is a serious item on his to-do list. “I want to learn seven languages, climb to the top of K2, ride a bicycle from Portland, Oregon all the way to Patagonia…”
Roberts also wants to write a book of poetry and improve his chess game. He has a long list of side passions, acting is not his only interest, though it’s his longest running.
“I grew up watching a lot of movies…and I would always mimic the characters on screen from an early age, but something about seeing actors for real on stage, making me believe that story right in front of me, was so magical,” Roberts recollects.
He joined a youth Shakespeare group, in which he learned stage combat and other acting techniques. He didn’t become intrigued by the idea of film and television until later, at which point he acquired a manager and an agent, and began auditioning.
Roberts currently stars as Alex Woods in the Netflix teen drama Greenhouse Academy, in which students from two rival dormitories at an elite Southern California boarding school combine forces to thwart an evil plot.

The new actor has amassed a pretty large following on social media, likely made up of his young viewership. “With Greenhouse Academy, we engage a lot with our fans on Instagram,” Roberts shares. “With social media I think everyone has a responsibility to be their best selves, in the truest sense… I think it’s your duty to make sure you’re in some way elevating others and inspiring people to do better in their lives…I personally have always wanted to try to show how amazing this planet is.”
Most of Roberts’ Instagram posts depict him hiking, traveling, or being generally active in some way. Further down his long list of passions he names rock climbing. He seems to treasure the natural world immensely. “I’m a huge supporter of [World Wildlife Fund] and I would like to get much more involved in efforts to reforest areas of the world,” Roberts says. He’s also working to be a Wildlands Restoration Supervisor for TreePeople.
But Roberts has acting goals, too. He plans to see Greenhouse Academy through its continued success, but he wants to take his career even further. “I think, more than ever, film and TV are really important,” Roberts muses. “Since their beginnings film and TV have had the capacity to inspire, educate, and create changes in a person’s thought process, [and] behavior toward others and the world around them. I’ve always wanted to act in a film that challenges someone’s perception of the current state of living… I want to be part of stories that inspire others as well as entertain them.”
Roberts is just getting his start in the industry and he’s already aspiring to build his own production company. He doesn’t just want to star in films, he wants to create them. Ambitious might just be too small a word for Finn Roberts.
