In the last month Jessica Parker Kennedy has been from Calgary to Vancouver to Los Angeles and now off to South Africa to shoot season two of the show whose series premiere isn’t until January. To say she is on a wild ride would be an understatement but Jessica handles it all with stride and ease and, well, I have to admit eye popping good looks.
You might recognize Kennedy from her roles in shows such as Smallville, Undercovers, Kaya. 90210 and The Secret Circle. She is now to set to star in Black Sails, an episodic prequel to the legendary novel Treasure Island and also a $60 million budgeted, Michael Bay production, no big deal.
A classically trained singer, Kennedy first fell in love with performing in choir but caught the acting bug in a junior high drama class and soon pursued her career with full force. While on set for the movie Santa Baby, Kennedy knew she couldn’t do anything else and she never looked back. Her career has kept moving forward by leaps and bounds and while maintaining her down to earth vibe.
“There’s nothing more I hate than entitlement,” she says.
Kennedy walks the walk with those words, not leaning on looks to bring success to her. One audition at a time, she has kept a humble attitude through all the ups and downs found in Hollywood while becoming a regular in made for TV movies and one-off guest appearances on various network shows.
Kennedy’s hope to do “good work that leads to more good work” has led to fan favorite recurring roles on some of our favorite shows. You might wonder when the gloating and self promotion begins in this article but the whole time we shot with and spoke with Kennedy she continuously gushed about her friends and those who helped get her to where she is and did I mention she’s easy on the eyes? With a genuine character, a humble attitude, skilled acting chops, and consistent success, Jessica Parker Kennedy will be here for a while, so get used to her.
