Ali Coyle Comes Back Biting and Uplifting With “Dreamkiller”

Ali Coyle is a widely/praised singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Her previous work mixes different genres such as dream-folk and indie rock with her engaging vocals and her varied instrumentation. After releasing her debut studio EP, she received recognition and acclamation from a list of publications that include The Los Angeles Times, Atwood Magazine, and Guitar Girl Magazine for creating “poetic and moody music that speaks to your soul”. Now, she’s back with her darkly humorous but life-affirming song, “Dreamkiller”.

Ali, an American-Irish artist, has recently released a poignant yet sentimental song titled ‘Dream Killer’. In this track, Ali confronts her deepest fears – the ones that hold us back, immobilize us, and prevent us from pursuing our passions, spending time with loved ones, and living the life we desire. The lyrics also delve into how these fears can become a comfortable part of our lives, making it easier to live with them rather than taking risks.

Dream Killer you never leave my mind / Hold me back a little longer / I think it feels right”, gopes the chorus. However, life goes by and there is still a concern. “My biggest fear is time”, elaborates the singer in the second chorus, communicating the constant remorse or fear of missing out.

“Not only does ‘Dream Killer’ deliver a powerful message, but it also showcases exceptional musical talent. With its catchy guitar hooks reminiscent of indie rock songs from the late 90s and early 2000s, and harmonies that evoke a soulful touch from the 1950s, the song seamlessly blends elements from different genres and nostalgic sounds. Yet, the inclusion of modern synth sounds and polished production gives it a contemporary feel. And let’s not forget Ali’s captivating vocals, which effortlessly transition from hypnotic and haunting to dreamy and alluring, adding a whole new dimension to the overall production.”

Accompanying the song is a visually stunning music video directed by Sarah Vargas and Michael Klein, with editing by Justin Green. Presented in a cinematic format, the video tells a compelling story that warrants multiple viewings. Shot in panoramic ratio, the video opens with Ali experiencing accelerated flashbacks in a bright room. We then follow her as she gets ready for a party, only to arrive with an unexpected guest. Through the use of dark humor and clever storytelling, the video takes us on a journey of self-realization, empowerment, and friendship
