New York rapper Dai Burger is on the rise. From the rapid fire flow in her bubble-pop sex-rap debut “Souffle,” to her aggressive, no-prisoners-taken feature on Saint’s trap banger “Tamagotchi,” the colorful MC and former House of Field shop-girl is not one to shy away from the spotlight, and has been a favorite on many of 2014’s rappers-to-watch lists.
Recently, Dai teamed up with the boys at Time Spent, a visual creative team who join forces with emerging rap acts in order to create unique one-shot music videos on VHS. The three met up in Patricia Field’s legendary downtown boutique to film Dai performing a freestyle rap – with no cut-aways, minimal editing, and just one take.
Of working with Dai, Time Spent shares: “We first met Dai Burger at the opening night of Duh Fridays hosted by [Alex] Chapman. For the location, we landed on the LES Patricia Field shop. The style of the layout and lighting was perfect for her rap, and might be one of the best locations we have ever shot at. Dai killed it.”
We agree. Take a look:
