ALBUM PREMIERE: 'Oblivion' – MUNROE

Photos & Story by Kristy Benjamin

Canadian born Kathleen Munroe is most known for being an actress, with an impressive resume and a current role on the quirky political drama Patriot on Amazon, we could easily do a feature on her acting career alone. Instead, the multifaceted creative brings us her debut album, Oblivion, and we’re giving you the exclusive first listen. Something tells us she’ll be known equally as an actress and singer/songwriter very soon. This gorgeous record is equal parts uplifting and melancholy. Channeling inspiration from “spaghetti westerns, ’60s film scores, Lee Hazelwood & Nancy Sinatra recordings” Munroe’s music stirs up a wonderful feeling of nostalgia. She says she aimed for this album to evoke feelings of “the American West,” and the warm and inviting tones paired with her soothing voice give us exactly what she was going for. Backed by talented collaborators Michael Keire (Hamilton co-producer), Ben Munoz (formerly of New Hands), and Anthony Carone (of Arkells) on string arrangements, Munroe leaves us wanting more. Luckily, there’s a repeat button until then.
