VIDEO PREMIERE: ALEC BENJAMIN – “LET ME DOWN SLOWLY”

Phoenix-born, L.A. based songwriter Alec Benjamin’s video for his new single “Let Me Down Slowly” is a touching, soul-stirring ode to the romantic struggles we can all identify with.
At first look, Alec looks like a sweet-faced kid with an angelic voice, but there’s much more hiding under the surface. Along with his catchy pop melodies that instantly stick in your brain, Alec’s storytelling is filled with emotion and a hint of darkness that goes way past bubblegum guitar-driven pop. He’s not just another guitar-playing popstar–he’s a “narrator” of stories that draw you in, hit you in the gut, and make you think.
Alec is a rising singer-songwriter star–a John Mayer or Ed Sheeran with a little more edge– who started out performing “DIY-style” concerts in the parking lots of Shawn Mendes and Troye Sivan shows, building his fan base from the ground up. His hard work paid off in over 150K YouTube subscribers in just six months and a viral hit that garnered over 4 million Spotify spins in under a year. He’s the kind of guy who knows what it’s like to fight your way to the top–and with songs like his that we can all feel a connection to, his star is about to rise even higher.

“I’ve always felt awkward in front of the camera so I decided that in my music videos I would play the role of the narrator,” Alec says. “Most of my songs are based on a specific narrative so I figured why not just tell the story as it is and have some great actors bring the story to life. I feel really comfortable in that role and it was extremely exciting to make the music video for “Let Me Down Slowly.”
The visual of the “Let Me Down Slowly” video emphasizes Alec’s narrator-style, as he weaves his way ghost-like through the story of a struggling young couple whose love is on the rocks. Check out the video here.
