VIDEO PREMIERE: TRANSVIOLET – "UNDO"

Frontwoman, Sarah McTaggart, of  4 piece alt-pop band Transviolet does not subscribe to industry shenanigans. She makes it very clear in the band’s well-received trajectory that the message of Transviolet is one of critically thinking, peace and oneness with yourself. As theoretical as that might sound, set over the band’s lush upbeat melodies and mantra-like lyrics the advice sits in the listener in an uplifting way like pop for the soul.

Sarah says, “I’ve had my fair share of people try to categorize me, change me, break me down into pieces and parts they could more easily digest, or assign me an identity they were more comfortable with, but I won’t do it. I’m not your virgin. I’m not your whore. I’m a human with desires and emotions and experiences, and I refuse to be whittled down to anything less than that.”

A quote by Cynthia Occelli inspired the video premiering today – “For a seed to achieve its greatest expression, it must come completely undone. The shell cracks, its insides come out and everything changes. To someone who doesn’t understand growth, it would look like complete destruction.” We often tiptoe around our own lives, trying not to disturb that comfortable space of what we know and who we are. Breaking those delicate identities we’ve created for ourselves, and breaking those identities society has created for us, is terrifying, because as much as we might loathe them, the unknown is intimidating.”

“Undo” is a manifesto to destruction and transformation. Sarah sums it up as, “Sometimes in order to create something new, everything needs to come apart, and how beauty can be found in that vulnerable chaos.”

Here is to tearing it apart and building it back stronger – with Transviolet playing in the background of course.
