With candid music centered on passion and lust, glam rock ’n’ roll artist Micky James releases his highly anticipated new single “New Heart”. Taking inspiration from the 60s and 70s iconic rock sound, “New Heart” is bursting with an infectious energy, pounding drums, fuzzy guitars and a compelling chorus.
Micky James’s influences include The Clash, David Bowie and The Rolling Stones.  I had the pleasure of interviewing Micky James discovering everything from his style icons to life as a solo artist.

What does your creative process look like when coming up with a new track and what was the inspiration behind “New Heart”?
It varies. For me, writing comes from many different angles. Sometimes I’ll start on a guitar and flesh out an idea. Or I might put together and create a track to develop a more structured thought when going into the studio.
To try and sum it up, I’d say “New Heart” is about starting over, acceptance of change for the better. A rebirth in one’s life and embracing that feeling.

I understand your music is heavily influenced by 60s and 70s rock, but if you were to create playlists of current music who are some artists you would add?
A few artists that I’m currently into right now would be The Lemon Twigs, Miles Kane and the new Arctic Monkeys album.

Which classic rock icons influence your style the most?
It’s hard to say. There were so many great artists and bands back in the 60’s / 70’s That were such tastemakers in what they were wearing. In terms of performance gear, Bowie and Jagger would most likely be my biggest influence. I’m not sure if she would be considered a classic rock icon, but Karen O from yeah yeah yeah would also be considered a big influence on my stage wear.
You are set to perform on the Alt Nation Advanced Placement tour, do you have any quirky pre-show rituals?

Nothing to unusual. It hasn’t gone full rock n roll just yet. I Have a green room playlist I like to put on about an hour before the show. That usually helps to get the blood flowing, puts me in the right state of mind.
