Peyton List is most known by fans for her role as Emma inĀ Disneyās JessieĀ and Bunk’d, but now sheās making waves with her newĀ single entitled āLiar, Liarā. The track is the essence of driving electro-popĀ and features bold catchy melodies paired with raw honest lyrics. The songĀ signifies her leap into adulthood, breaking the Disney bubble. I got the chanceĀ to interview Peyton, discovering her process in creating the single and her upcomingĀ plans for her music.
What was your inspiration behind āLiar, Liarā and was there an actual guy in your life you felt was unfaithful?
It was less of a guy more of people who have hurt me or betrayed me. People who have thought I was weak because Iām kind. This song very much shows a side of me I donāt show a lot of people. Itās more a moving on the song for me. Saying you lied, I know the facts, Iām done, have a nice life.
The single features unfiltered lyrics that are straightforward and honest, what was your writing process like when creating the track?
I was honestly surprised I ended up putting out “Liar Liar” because it very much felt the most unfiltered Iāve ever been with people who arenāt in my immediate circle. I thought Iād choose a safer song when the time came.
I work with producers over at Dirty Canvas, and their buddies Jackson and Ryder wrote it. The song spoke to me immediately I wanted to scream it and sing it over and over. Any song that can bring out the bad bitch buried deep down, ha.
āLiar, Liarā is infectious electro-pop, is that a genre youāve always been drawn to and who are some of your musical inspirations?
The past couple of years it really is the sound Iāve been attracted to. Iām going to drop my playlist for you because it is basically a hodgepodge of my musical inspirations.
What does the future look like for you as an artist and what can your fans expect next?
Oh, Iām going to get back in the studio right after the holidays. I was so blown away by how positive everyone responded Iām so grateful. Canāt wait to record more music for them.
