INDOOR FINS DEBUTS WITH A BANG, ‘HERE IT GOES’ VIDEO OUT NOW

They say to start it off with a bang and well, Indoor Fins has accomplished exactly that. Debuting his new sound, the Australian songwriter’s new single ‘Here It Goes’ crashes in with an array of guitars and synthesizers moving along to a psychedelic animation. Anyone who’s looking to be taken on a journey will certainly get one with Indoor Fins’ multi-genre, cosmos exploding new jam:

A VCR tape is abruptly interrupted as kaleidoscopic visuals usher in the rock anthem ‘Here It Goes.’ Heavy guitars lead the way, until colorful synthesizers dress up the atmosphere and provide a steady backbone. The digital animations are hypnotizing in an almost ironic juxtaposition between raw alt-rock and the virtual world. Though the graphics are entirely illustrated, there is a vivid personal connection that occurs as soon as the vocals come in. The video ends just as charming as it began, with a tape of the lead singer as a young boy joyfully belting out a song and banging on a drum set.

Timothy Nelson, the man behind Indoor Fins, describes his music as “super-pop,” garnering inspiration from 70s rock to french electro-pop. In just three and a half minutes, we experience a universe of sounds akin to the Beatles’ more progressive, experimental albums. Joining forces with influences from around the world, this project is a new wave for Nelson, as his previous hip-hop releases found him in a much different world. After a year of serious transitions, Nelson dove headfirst into music and soul-searching:

“A few years back my old band, and my relationship at the time, both fell apart within about

a month of each other. Then, shortly after all that, someone in my family, very close to me, got seriously ill. These four songs are like little vignettes into where my head was at.” A multi award winning artist, Timothy self produces all of his music in his bedroom. “I had my guitar, my computer, and a keyboard.I think musically, the direction it took, came from a feeling of, ‘Fuck it, do whatever feels right’… That’s what I mean by ‘Put me on the road to rhythm and light’, you know? My subconscious was saying ‘pull yourself together, and get on with it.’”

Indoor Fins’ debut EP will be out next month, in the meantime, keep up with the music by following Indoor Fins on Instagram.
