When I got to Rolling Loud, the culture rang louder than the speakers. There was a sea of young kids at three different stages. Let’s get this straight: hip hop and rap is not music anymore it’s the culture. Out of all the artists that were at each stage, Ladygunn was thankful to nab three upcoming ones that are about to shine.
Yoshi24K
21 year old Japan meets West Africa  meets NYC rapper Yoshi24k is an eclectic rapper ready to break boundaries. He played the Fashion Nova Stage Saturday. We caught up with him for a quick Q&A.
On his story
I think I have a different global perspective for the rap game. Only time will tell, though.
On today’s hip hop scene
I wouldn’t categorize rap music as trap music. I don’t even known how I would categorize my own music. I just feel that everyone is telling their own life story and how they are feeling in their moment.
On his video for the single “Coincidental”Â
I always loved the Battle Royale movie. I wanted to throw that into one of my videos. I felt “Coincidental”
had the that spooky vibe–suicide forest meets Battle Royale.
On Rolling Loud
It’s amazing! This is the first time the festival is here in NYC!
Fat Nick
When I first met Fat Nick, he reminded me of Bubba Sparxxx, but it’s quite the opposite when you hear a taste of his music. The Floridian rapper has vibe all of his own. He garnered much attention with his single “Pocket Rocket” featuring Famous Dex and also collaborated with Lil’ Peep and XXXTentacion.
On performing in NYC
I’m good. Cool in NYC–it’s f*cking lit.
On his single “Pocket Rocket” featuring Famous Dex
I love Famous Dex. Really great friend of mine and awesome person.
On his influences
The Big Puns, Fat Joes and a shoutout to Pitbull.
On Rolling LoudÂ
I think it is one of best festivals on the planet. It’s such a great outlet for up and coming rappers too.
Kash Doll
Kash Doll is raw and explicit as she wants to be and is a huge upcoming female emcee from Detroit who is about to whip the game back into shape. Keep an eye out on this stripper turned rapper.
