Aurora Luis is a New York-based fashion curator, blogger, and stylist, recognized for her distinctive influence on the city’s fashion scene. Under the moniker “fashionfaguette,” she curates content that blends vintage aesthetics with contemporary styles, reflecting her deep appreciation for fashion history and innovative design. Her work often highlights the contributions of people of color and the LGBTQ+ community to fashion and culture. Aurora’s insights and unique perspective have earned her a dedicated following, positioning her as a notable voice in the industry. But for her, being an “It-Girl” isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s a mindset, embodied by what she calls the “3 C’s”: CUNT, CONFIDENCE, and COURAGEOUS.

How do you see yourself shaping the narrative of the NYC fashion scene?

I feel like we’ve started to see a rise in people collecting a lot more archival pieces which I love. I tend to always look for vintage pieces from my fav designers and invest in them because that’s when fashion was at its peak. I see myself shaping the narrative of the nyc fashion scene in nightlife by showcasing new and exciting cunt outfits at the club. I feel like the nightlife girlies are really setting the standard for the fashion girls and you can see that influence in artists today via their promotional pushes with music & videos.

What does it mean to be an “It Girl”?

Being an IT girl isn’t about how much money you have or what’s in your closet
. It’s all about the mentality. How you hold and carry yourself. The 3 C’s : CUNT, CONFIDENCE & COURAGEOUS.

What first ignited your obsession with fashion?

Fashion magazines & watching runway shows as a kid! My grandma used to collect a bunch of Vogue magazines and I would flip through them whenever I went to her house & then one day I was just on YouTube and came across FashionTV & one of the first shows I watched was Dior while John Galliano was their creative director and it changed my life. Truly ignited my love for fashion along with Thierry Mugler.

As a curator of fashion, what are some hidden gems—designers, or cultural influences—that you think the world needs to pay attention to right now?

I think the world needs to pay attention to our POC sisters. They’re currently killing it in the fashion community. Girls like Doechii & JT are truly inspiring us all. Not only are they showcasing their cunt outfits but they’re also showcasing their knowledge and history of what it is to be a fashion icon. Some designers I think we all need to be focusing on are Dsquared2 of course & new designer MATIÈRES FÉCALES. They just showcased their debut collection in Paris this season referencing Alexander McQueen and it was YUMMY. I’m excited to see what they have in store for us.

Trans women have always been at the forefront of cultural revolutions. Who are the women—past or present—who inspire you most?

Trans women inspire me all the time
. They’re revolutionary. Some people I can think of are Marsha P Johnson, Indya Moore. Alex Consani, Laverne Cox, Hunter Schafer, Dylan Mulvaney and all of my NY doll sisters (Linux, Memphy, Fashion, Sevyn, Yaki, Rose,Essence, etc.) ALL Women are inspiring. We’ve created such a family in our own community that we’re constantly looking out for one another. Every day I’m inspired by our motivation to just make it big and get out of any struggles we’ve gone and are currently going through.

If you could go back in time and style one legendary woman from herstory, who would it be and How would you style them?

Marsha P Johnson. She’s already fab but honestly I would love to have styled her in some current Robert Wun.

In five years, where do you see Aurora Luis—the brand, the visionary, the woman?

In five years I see myself honestly being creative whether it’s with my own personal brand identity or collaborating with designers. I’ve recently been wanting to get into DJ’ing especially since I have a musical background and I really just want to get my creative juices flowing. Although NYC doesn’t need another DJ in the midst they can handle another cunt high fashion doll infiltrating the scene. As for the woman I want to be, I really just want to align myself with good values and work on bettering myself as a whole. Focusing on my transition and getting to a place where I feel fulfilled. As long as I’m happy then nothing else matters.
