Living in the most popular city in the world may have some perks but even then, things can be missed in the chaos of the city that never sleeps. LADYGUNN partners with photographer Shane Reynolds to bring you ā€œMEET CUTE,ā€ a editorial photo series by EIC and Stylist Phil Gomez, highlighting NYCā€™s nightlife, performance artistsĀ  and creative cuties we feel you should know.

Meet LEXXE ā€“ singer, songwriter, and performer known for dazzling the stage for Company XIV.

Lexxe, what’s your spirit animal?

Hmmmm. My spirit animal is a bat or a black cat. Quick, cute, and ready to make things aesthetically gorgeousĀ

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?

Honestly I love making music with my producer/co-writer Dom. If I had it my way Iā€™d be in New Orleans writing in the garden districtĀ

What would you sing at Karaoke night?

Moondance –Ā  Van Morrison or if I have had a little too many absinthes, Rebel Yell – Billy Idol

What makes you laugh the most?

Cats being ridiculous and my girlfriend being ridiculous. Dark humor is a close second

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Arroz con gandules!!!!!

If you could only have one app on your phone, what would it be?

Spotify!

What was the last concert you went to?

The last concert I went to was KISSā€™s final performance EVER at Madison Square Garden.

What did you think?

My girlfriend’s family are avid KISS fans, it was my first and last KISS concert and I sobbed. The theatrics, performance and joyful energy killed me. I dressed up like Paul Stanley and the fan base is so friendly and wanted photos. He (the lead singer) also gave a little speech about how he was a taxi driver in NYC before he made it and told people he dropped off at MSG one day he would play there. Instant ugly cry. I love the dreamers

What has been your favorite performance youā€™ve done so far?

My performance at the Santa Sangre release party presented by LADYGUNN! I truly felt like that was a starting point for me, I arrived in a way that night.Ā

What is your favorite thing about your career?

I make the dreams and pictures in my head come to life out of thin air, it is incredibly rewarding. When it gets hard I just remember the memories Iā€™ve made with people. I love chasing my dream, I never feel alone and it’s so special.Ā

What’s your mantra?

Be kind, the rest is easy!

Who is your hero?

My mom. She drove me to ballet everyday for ten years 6 days a week after school 30 minutes away and worked in the office for free because we couldnā€™t afford tuition. She saved my life and made my dream real. I learned as I grew older how much of a sacrifice that was for her marriage, her personal life and her own dreams. She showed me something she painted this Christmas and I could have cried because it was amazing- now all I want to do is support her dreams.Ā

Favorite era? Why?

Old Hollywood 30ā€™s/40ā€™s because dressing up was so much more fun, and of course the hair metal 80ā€™s. I try to mesh the two as much as possible, thats me haha

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

New Orleans. I went three times in 2023. I am forever drawn back to the air, the music and the people there. My heart feels home there.Ā

When have you been most satisfied in your life?

Honestly recently. Iā€™ve been in therapy the past year and realized how much I turn off my own light to make others feel safe. Iā€™ve found videos of younger me putting other people in front of me in ballet class or telling other girls they shouldā€™ve gotten the role I got and I honestly cried. I have this sweet sense about me to make everyone feel included but only this year have I been treating myself like everyone else.Ā

What would be your dream project or collaboration?

Iā€™m currently working on my first concept album. Iā€™ve finally found my sound and now I think is the right time to share myself and what my brain is capable of making. Dream collaboration is Stevie Nicks. Iā€™m listening to her right now. I have had dreams about her singing to me since I was little. Once I had a dream she told me I needed to sing Rihannon at my next gig and I did haha!

What is the most significant lesson youā€™ve learned throughout your life /work so far?Ā Ā

It sounds so bland but believing that what you create is worthy. So often creatives are meant to feel like our jobĀ  is on the line if we don’t deliver, but we forget that we were asked to CREATE the way we DO! Loving my art has made me love myself. Itā€™s so important.Ā

If you could give an aspiring multi threat creative like yourself some advise, what would it be?Ā

I think thereā€™s two things. Donā€™t put yourself in one lane. You donā€™t need to be just a singer, or just a writer, or just a dancer. I donā€™t believe in jack of all trades, master of none. Really think of the possibilities you could do if you threw all your talents at the wall, it makes you uniquely you. ALSO, We will face so SO SO many noā€™s. So much rejection, and so much opposition to ourselves. Go to therapy and heal your inner child, or journal. Do whatever you can. It has saved me so much from skewing my reality because of my inner struggles. Lastly, I used to be afraid of being too much walking into a room but listen to Lady Gagaā€¦..and recently Iā€™ve been like GIRL. wear the giant platforms to the deli. SLAY!
