Fun, fierce, and bursting with pop, hip-hop, and electro energy, Boombby storms the digital charts with her latest single, “Test Drive,” a spring-ready track made for dancing, vibing, and refreshing your playlist.
Clocking in at 3 minutes and 27 seconds, the track is unexpectedly catchy. It keeps listeners on their toes by layering fresh elements throughout, revealing the seasoned hand of an artist who’s been behind some of K-pop’s most iconic songs.
“The song is about allowing yourself to have fun and do that crazy thing you’ve been thinking about doing without guilt. And that good girls can be bad and still be good,” she said.
Born in South Korea and also known as Bekuh BOOM, Boombby isn’t new to the music scene—even if her face hasn’t been in the spotlight just yet. Her career began behind the curtain, writing and producing vocals for none other than Blackpink.
She’s co-written anthems like “Ddu-du Ddu-du,” “Kill This Love,” “Pretty Savage,” and “Typa Girl,” and if that weren’t enough, she was also part of the team behind Lisa’s record-breaking solo tracks “Lalisa” and “Money.” The latter became the first solo K-pop song to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify.
But Boombby isn’t just a behind-the-scenes powerhouse. She’s carving out her own space with undeniable flair. Her debut track, “Icy Bishh” earned praise from critics and continues to gain traction for its bold, original style. Like “Test Drive,” it blends K-pop influences with heavy doses of hip-hop and electro-pop, this time with a deeper, moodier edge.
Boombby’s artistry lives in contrasts: bright and raw, rebellious and emotional, with a drive to stand out in an industry that often rewards sameness. She doesn’t shy away from pop appeal, but she’s not afraid to show that even in a saturated K-pop market, there’s still room for something different. Her persona isn’t a mask—it’s a megaphone for her identity, one that pulses with experience, sarcasm, self-awareness, and a rhythm that’s hard to copy. Her debut project is set to unfold throughout 2025, with more releases and visuals on the way. The engine’s running. The road is open. And Boombby? She’s already miles ahead.
