80’s synth pop as a genre is making a major comeback this year — and if you’re down for dark, vibey synths a la “Stranger Things,” you’ll dig the new single from Youngblood, “Dark Place.” The vibey tune is the newest single from the band’s forthcoming EP, “Fantasy Love,” expected to be released on August 17th — and it brings all the art-movie vibes — just imagine it on the soundtrack of “Drive,” or “The Neon Demon.” The synth growls will have you listening to it on repeat.
Lead Vocalist Alexis Young says of the song, “‘Dark Place’ speaks to the masochistic tendency of repeatedly making the same mistake and not understanding the compromising effects of that until it’s too late. Sometimes you really need to have something completely fall apart and be destroyed before you are able to fully understand its value. It is the thrilling allure of pressing the self-sabotage button and watching what unfolds before you.”
The band is known for their “Retro-futuristic melodies” and “siren-like vocals” thanks to Alexis’ sexy vocals — and the EP is likely to have more of that, and we can’t wait for it. Check the new tune out here.
